Social responsibility.

Our commitment to environmental and climate protection has led the way for the paper industry. However, we are also particularly committed to social projects. Together with our cooperation partners, we support the fight for equal opportunities and education for all. We are particularly committed when it comes to children and young people, as they are known to suffer the most from social inequality.

In 2022, for example, we initiated a fundraising campaign in favour of Ukrainian schoolchildren in Austria and provided them with a total of 35,000 exercise books.

Youth Red Cross

Children and young people are particularly important to us – after all, they are the ones who use most of our products and should benefit from our commitment to an environment worth living in for a long time to come. We are therefore all the more pleased that we can manifest this passion in a joint project with the Austrian Youth Red Cross.

Counselling from young people for young people

Following the successful #humanity campaign, the Austrian Youth Red Cross is once again showing its commitment to young people.

The time4friends counselling service – a campaign by the Austrian Youth Red Cross with Format Productions –  helps young people by offering low-threshold WhatsApp counselling. Children and young people can get in touch easily and are not left alone. Young peers are sensitively and purposefully trained by the Youth Red Cross for use in counselling sessions.

At Format Productions, we believe that children and young people in particular have been exposed to enormous pressure in the last few difficult years. Low-threshold offers of help are therefore more than welcome, which is why we support this initiative wholeheartedly.

Energy

Energy plays a central role in our lives – including for us as an industrial manufacturer. Without energy, all our machines would come to a standstill. Where this energy comes from matters a great deal to us: on the one hand, we draw electricity directly from our photovoltaic system; on the other, we rely on purchased electricity from hydropower. In this way, we make deliberate choices about our energy sources.

climate neutratility

We endeavour to keep our carbon dioxide footprint as small as possible: In recent years, we have laid the foundations for a company that is as climate-friendly as possible with a comprehensive energy efficiency project. The conscious choice of our energy sources is essential here. We offset the unavoidable amount of CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere by supporting global climate protection projects.

The certification by Climate Partner confirms that these efforts are bearing fruit: it shows that the Format Werk & Staufen Group not only reduces its own emissions, but also fulfils all the requirements of a modern, climate-friendly company in terms of offsetting.

photovoltaics

The power of the sun as an inexhaustible energy source has occupied us for several years. Thanks to continuous investment in expanding the photovoltaic system on our company building, we now generate 45% of our electricity needs ourselves.

This lowers our operating costs and at the same time reduces the electricity we draw from fossil sources. With every ray of sunshine that hits our panels, we move a step closer to this goal.

Unsere Lehrlinge werden umsichtig durch ihre Lehrzeit begleitet – dafür haben wir ein Patenprogramm entwickelt: Ehemalige Lehrlinge stehen als Ansprech- und Vertrauensperson zur Verfügung. 

Fortbildungen stehen an der Tagesordnung, das Kennenlernen des gesamten Betriebs und aller relevanten Abteilung ist hier selbstverständlich.

Jeder Lehrling in der Produktion verfügt über eine eigene Werkbank.

Bei Bedarf unterstützen wir vor Kursen und Prüfungen mit Nachhilfeprogrammen.

Accessibility in the digital space is an essential aspect of providing everyone with equal access to information and services. However, in our endeavours to achieve maximum accessibility on our website, we sometimes encounter technical challenges. One example of this is full screen reader support. While we endeavour to make text content and navigation elements fully accessible, there may be limitations with complex graphics or interactive animations.

We are aware that the development towards a fully accessible platform is an ongoing process. That’s why we value the feedback and comments from people who rely on web accessibility. Your input is essential for us to make our website as inclusive as possible.

We are especially committed to children and young people, because social inequality often affects them the most. Recycled paper is no longer coarse or grey. With a high level of whiteness and a pleasant feel, our recycled paper is in no way inferior in quality to paper made from virgin fibre. Every school notebook, every college pad and all our other products made from recycled paper offer a fine texture and a comfortable writing experience. In this way, we combine high product quality with the consistent use of recycled paper.

Circular economy

To reduce the environmental impact of our production, we keep products and materials in a closed loop wherever possible. This means we reuse and recycle resources to minimise the need for new raw materials and to reduce waste. In this way, we are closing the loop for paper products step by step.
